CHAMBER EVENTS
Chamber Chats/Ribbon Cuttings, Etc.
Each Friday morning a chamber business hosts our weekly chamber chat. This is a great opportunity for the host business to be spotlighted and share what is going on in their business and with their employees. It is also a great networking opportunity for chamber members. Ribbon Cuttings are a great way to get your new business noticed. Whether you are a business that has just become a chamber member or you are currently a chamber member that has a milestone to celebrate whether it is an anniversary or a new product line, please let the chamber share in your celebration with a ribbon cutting. Free to attend.
Membership Lunches
The Chamber holds a monthly membership lunch the last Friday of each month from January-October each year. Each month we have a different chamber member sponsor the luncheon and a different program ranging in topics that impact how we live in Hays and Western Kansas.
Cost: $12/Member; $17/Non-Member
Ambassador Membership Lunches
The Chamber holds a monthly Ambassador membership lunch the third Friday of each month from January-May; August-November ber each year. Each month we have a different program ranging in topics that impact how we live in Hays and Western Kansas and meet in alternating chamber business venues.
Cost: varies HAYP Membership Lunches The Chamber holds a monthly HAYP membership lunch the third Tuesday of each month from January- October ber each year. Each month we have a different program ranging in topics that impact how we live in Hays and Western Kansas as well as 3 Eagle Development Series programs that focus on leadership and professional development. This group meets in alternating chamber business venues.
Cost: varies Business After Hours
This event is generally held monthly from January through October on a Tuesday or Thursday evening at varying locations. This allows members to get a behind the scenes look at some of the local businesses and network with other chamber members.
Cost: Free to attend; fee associated with hosting.
Annual Events
Eggs & Issues
The Eggs & Issues legislative forums are held annually and sponsored by AT&T. This is a time for legislators to provide area residents the oppotunity to learn more about the happenings in Topeka as well as a chance to provide feedback to the legislators regarding issues that affect the way of life in Western Kansas. We generally hold these events once a month in January, February, April.
Cost: Free to attend.
February:
Annual Banquet
This is our annual meeting generally held in early to mid February at FHSU Memorial Union Ballroom. This is a more formal gathering for all members. It includes a guest speaker as well as a preview of the upcoming year from the Chamber Board of Director's Chair and a summary of the previous year's events from the past chair. During this event, we recognize the year's award winners in the categories of Citizen of the Year, Business Woman of the Year, Harley Rhoades Business Achievement and the Hall of Fame Award.

HAYP Casino Night
All Chamber and HAYP members are invited to attend the annual Casino Night event presented by the Hays Area Young Professionals. The event will feature games such as BlackJack, Texas Hold'Em, Roulette, and Craps. Appetizers and drinks will be provided along with the opportunity to win tons of great prizes donated by many of our Chamber member businesses and HAYP supporters.
Administrative Professional Luncheon
Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant, or Director of First Impressions...whatever the title is, the person is one of your organizations's most valuable employees, so plan to attend the Administrative Professional Luncheon with YOUR Administrative Professional every April. We provide guest speakers and great food for this great recognition opportunity for your staff. Tickets become available for this event for $40/ea. May: Annual Golf Tournament We began holding an annual golf tournament fund raiser in May of 2010 at Smoky Hill Country Club and have decided to make it an annual event. Nex-TechWireless is the premier sponsor of this event. 30 teams of 4 compete for bragging rights and awards during this event. Planning of this event starts in February.

Ambassador/HAYP Annual Picnic
This is a great family networking event in which the Ambassadors and HAYP members and their families can hang out and relax and enjoy a great evening with a potluck dinner. Generally held at Seven Hills Park beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Teacher's Reception
This annual event is held in September and recognizes the educators of our communities. It is generally held at FHSU Sternberg Museum from 5:00-6:30 p.m. It includes recognition of the new teachers in each of the participating schools. Light hors'doeuvres are served for this event.
Midwest Duetsche Oktoberfest and FHSU Oktoberfest Celebrations
Annually, the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce participates in the Midwest Deutsche Oktoberfest on the 3rd weekend of September at the Ellis County Fairgrounds as well as the FHSU Oktoberfest in Frontier Park by running the beer booths as fundraising events for the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce. The Ambassadors and HAYP members volunteer to help man these booths in the efforts. Volunteers are very much needed to make this event run smoothly. If you are able to help with any shift during either or both of these events, your help would be greatly appreciated. 1st Annual Hays Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament
Over 120 people teed off on May 21st to support the First Annual Hays Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament presented by Nex-Tech Wireless. The tournament was held at Smoky Hill Country Club and drew participants from the local business community and from throughout the state. Kickin' Country - A Celebration of Family & Community: This event was held on August 29th in the Municipal Park on South Main. It was a great event for people of all ages with kid's games, Mechanical Bull Riding Contest, BBQ meal, raffle and auction and concert by National Recording Artist, Lance Combs.
----------------------------------- Tailgreat Tailgreat: We celebrated Tailgreat 2009 prior to the FHSU game vs. Missouri Western on Saturday, September 12th. We also held the annual BBQ Contest. Winners for the BBQ contest were: 1st Place: Dan Pfannenstiel, 2nd & 3rd Place - Dr. Kurt Martin. Thank you to all of you who helped make this a successful event.
